POSITION PURPOSE

　　Perform studies to advance the goals of research projects under the guidance of the principal investigator. Design, implement and perform experiments, analyze data and compile results and monitor quality control processes to ensure integrity of research. Assist the PI in writing grant proposals and papers. Prepare and present study results at national meetings. Assist more junior members of the lab in their work.

　　ESSENTIAL DUTIES

　　Design and execute complex research procedures pertaining to bone marrow transplantation.

　　Develop and perform routine and complex protocols for research programs.

　　Coordinate research study activities.

　　Assist in developing, implementing and monitoring quality activities.

　　Collaborate with principle investigators in determining study design.

　　Develop new methodologies for lab procedures.

　　Participate in meetings with principle investigator and research staff and evaluate/interpret the validity of data, develop methodologies, evaluate lab procedures.

　　May oversee the work of laboratory personnel including training and development as well as daily work direction/delegation/prioritizing.

　　Assist in training of students and more junior members of the laboratory.

　　Perform other duties as assigned.

　　KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

　　Knowledge of scientific approach and methodologies. Ability to develop and follow research methodology and protocol. Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of immunology and genomics. Ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures. Ability to design, organize and coordinate scientific research projects.

　　Education:

　　PhD degree in microbiology or other related field. Immunology experience is highly desirable.

　　Experience:

　　Prior experience working with mice, ability to perform flow cytometry and cellular immune assays is highly desirable.
