The National Synchrotron Light Source II (NSLS-II)(布鲁克海文国家实验室) at Brookhaven National Laboratory seeks an enthusiastic and dedicated scientist to lead a scientific program, assist users and develop instrumentation for newly constructed Electron Spectro-Microscopy (ESM) beamline. Possible programs and areas of user support include study of electronic properties of novel quantum materials in bulk or nanostructured artificial forms by means of high resolution angular resolved photoemission (ARPES), spin-resolved photoemission (SP-ARPES), core-level spectroscopies (XPES, XAS). These techniques are available to a scanning microscope end-station and a full-field XPEEM instrument.

　　The successful candidate will:

　　Develop and participate in a research program using the unique beamline capabilities;

　　Develop and maintain state-of-the-art instrumentation at the ESM beamline at NSLS-II;

　　Assist users in the collection, analysis and interpretation of photoemission-microscopy data;

　　Extend the research program through creative development of new techniques and sample environments, and generate new scientific projects and collaborations through outreach to the scientific community;

　　Engage in outreach efforts to build and extend the community of users on the ESM beamline;

　　Work within the ESM team to identify and resolve technical problems;

　　Actively participate to the Soft X-ray program group activities in order to build up common scientific programs, spread technical and scientific knowledge. Ultimately working to constitute a motivated group willing to tackle forefront challenges in material science and contributing to the scientific impact of the lab worldwide.

　　Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

　　Ph.D. in Physics or closely related discipline;

　　At least three (3) years of working experience associated with activities at a synchrotron beamline;

　　Experience and publication record in synchrotron based research;

　　Excellent written and oral communications skills;

　　The ability to interact effectively in a team environment with a diverse group of scientists, engineers, technical staff, and users.

　　Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

　　Experience with soft x-ray spectroscopies and/or microscopy techniques applied to condensed matter physics;

　　Excellent record of publication using synchrotron based techniques;

　　Demonstrated experience and ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and technical support staff;

　　Programming skills for data reduction and analysis.
